Firearms, Archery Facility Approved for Sauk Rapids

SAUK RAPIDS -- Sauk Rapids is getting a firearms safety and archery training facility.

The Sauk Rapids city council approved a Conditional Use Permit for Valley Rice LLC at their meeting on Monday night. The future business will be located at 109 Benton Drive South. That's where the vacant Sauk Rapids Locker Building currently sits.

The CUP was approved provided the owners meet a set of 24 conditions. Officials say all of the shooting will happen in the basement of the new building, and will not be able to be heard outside the building.

The City Council also had to amend a city ordinance that currently outlawed the firing of any guns or shooting of any arrows within the city limits.
