ST. CLOUD -- As you finalize your plans to ring in the new year, local law enforcement is reminding you to plan for a sober ride home.

Over 300 law enforcement agencies will be out on Minnesota roads this weekend to wrap up their Enhanced DWI enforcement campaign.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow with the Minnesota State Patrol says it's not about the number of arrests or citations they make, it's about making smart choices.

"That's why we want people to hear this message to know you should never drink and drive and make that smart choice each and every time you get in that vehicle," says Grabow.

Grabow says since the campaign began in November they continue to see many people get behind the wheel after a night of drinking.

He says even if you have a sober ride planned, have a backup plan in place in case things fall through.

"Life is really about Plan B, because sometimes things don't work out. It just comes down to multiple factors and responsibilities," says Grabow.

Over 2,500 people were arrested last year during the holiday season DWI enforcement campaign.
