Crime Stoppers Now Taking Tips via Text Message

UNDATED - Now you can send an anonymous tip to Tri-County Crime Stoppers from your cell phone.

The service called TipSoft allows you to send a tip by texting the keyword TRITIP and the tip information to CRIMES (or 274637) from any mobile phone.  The service specifically allows text message providers to remain anonymous by encrypting text messages, assigning them a unique ID, and routing them through secure servers.

The TipSoft software is already being used to receive tips online and by iphone and Android mobile apps.

You are encouraged to report information about illegal activity such as: unsolved cases, vandalism, theft, the sale and distribution of drugs, or information about crimes being planned in the community or in schools.
