ST. CLOUD - After a deadly week of crashes, local agencies are working to lower fatal and serious injury crashes on Highway 23.

The partnership will up their presence on Highway 23 between Foley and Milaca. Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck says they will be looking for distracted drivers, seat belts and stop sign violations, speeders, and impaired drivers.

"Were going to be stepping up enforcement, were going to be having extra presence. Were going to be out there to make sure that people understand that they need to be paying attention, driving sober, and obeying the rules of the road."

Heck and Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren will be working with the Milaca Police Department, Foley Police Department and Minnesota State patrol.

You can expect to see increased patrols on Highway 23 over the next few months.
