COLD SPRING -- Cold Spring's Police Chief Chris Boucher has resigned.

City Administrator Brigid Murphy says the city has received his letter of resignation. His last day will be January 2nd.

Boucher has been on paid medical leave since October, which was approved under the Family Medical Leave Act. He was recently granted an extension on his leave until January 2nd.

Boucher has worked for the police department since 1993 and was hired as police chief in June of 2014.

Murphy says the council will formally accept his resignation at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

Jason Blum has been acting as interim police chief in Boucher's absence.

Murphy says she expects the council to either remove the interim tag for officer Blum or begin the process of hiring a new police chief.
