ST. CLOUD -- CentraCare Health is opening a new center to help treat mid-level trauma injuries without having to go to the hospital emergency room.

The CentraCare Urgency Center will be located at the Health Plaza and treat things like broken bones, chest pain, dislocations, head injuries, children's injuries and serious cuts requiring stitches.

Diane Buschena-Brenna is the Director of CentraCare Health Plaza. She says it's a step up from an urgent care clinic without the wait time of an ER.  She says they have ER doctors on hand and have access to high-tech imaging and labs like CT-Scans and Ultrasounds. But, she says it's important to note that it is not a hospital emergency trauma center.

The urgency Center won't accept ambulance drop-offs or appointments.  It also won't have in-patient overnight stays or surgery capabilities.

The Urgency Center opens Monday (January 20th) and the hours will be from 5-10 p.m. weekdays and Noon-8:00 p.m. weekends and holidays.

You can access the Urgency Center through the Woodlands entrance and go to the second floor.
