Blue Light Ceremony Honors Fallen Heroes
ST. PAUL (AP) - An annual blue light ceremony is being held to remember police officers and peacekeepers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Law Enforcement Memorial on the grounds of the state capitol. The event will include music and speeches.
During the holiday season, the Minnesota chapter of a group called Concerns of Police Survivors promotes Project Blue Light as a way to honor fallen heroes. The color blue is associated with law enforcement and is a symbol of peace.
The group says that displaying blue lights at homes and businesses over the holidays sends a message of support and gratitude to law enforcement, and honors those killed in the line of duty.
