Alcohol and Speed Suspected to be Factors in Christmas Eve Crash

STEARNS COUNTY - A Melrose man is hurt after sliding off the road on Christmas Eve.

The incident happened just after 3:30 p.m. on County Road 167, near Long Lake Road in Millwood Township, three miles northwest of Freeport.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Trent Primus was driving south when he lost control on a downhill curve, slid slideways into the northbound lane before returning to the southbound lane and entering the west ditch. He then struck an electrical pole.

Primus was taken to Melrose Hospital by Ambulance for his injuries. Alcohol and speed are suspected to be factors in the crash.

Freeport Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene.
