ST. CLOUD - Hockey Day Minnesota is coming to St. Cloud in 2018.

Mike Petroske is on the local organizing committee for HDM 2018.  He says the committee has a lot of ideas for the event, but they are still ironing out the details.

"We're not sure about all the events that will be taking place yet. There is just going to be a lot going on, and we want to have some sort of on ice events whether it's a pond hockey tournament or just skating we're not sure yet."

Minnesota Wild Director of Marketing Wayne Petersen and Mayor Dave Kleis were just a few of the speaker at the kick-off event.

Hockey Day Minnesota will be a opportunity for St. Cloud to showcase itself to the state. While it is a statewide event, Petroska says he wants the local youth hockey clubs to get a chance to play on the ice rink that will be set up near Lake George.

"The goal and mission of the local area committee is to get each and everyone of our kids a chance to play on that ice."
