ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud's 17th annual Juneteenth celebration kicks off today (Friday).

June 13th through the 19th marks the dates back in 1863 that slaves in Texas found out of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

This year marks the 150th anniversary that President Abraham Lincoln signed the proclamation into law.

Riverside Park has free activities and games for kids from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Activities include a free 3k Walkathon for Health, music and African American and African arts and crafts.

Free food and beverages are provided for all participants including hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and a variety of assortments.

An area will also be set up for you to register to vote.
