ST. CLOUD -- Volunteers were downtown in St. Cloud Wednesday planting flowers as part of a beautification project.

A few weeks ago the St. Cloud Downtown Council hosted a clean-up effort to prepare for upcoming city events like the Mississippi River Cities and Town's  Mayor's Conference which is held at the end of June.

They also want the area cleaned up for the annual Granite City Days 5k and parade. Wednesday's efforts were an extension of that project.

The Downtown Council raised money to buy planters and plants which are stationed near the River's Edge Convention Center, White Horse, Le St. Germain and a few other surrounding businesses.
