ST. CLOUD - Thousands of amateur baseball fans will be in town over the next few weeks.

The Municipal Athletic Complex is hosting the Class B and C State Amateur Baseball Tournaments.  Spokesman Pete Cheeley says teams from all over the state will be here.

Games will be played at both Dick Putz and Joe Faber Fields.  It's the first time both the Class B and C Tournaments will be held in the same town since 1980.  Games start tonight (Friday), and champions for both tournaments will be crowned on September 3rd.

In Class C, Clear Lake, Richmond, Avon and New Munich are among the teams competing.  Cold Spring and Sauk Rapids still have a chance to make the Class B field next weekend.

The tournament is being run by the non-profit St. Cloud Sports Inc., with money raised going to local sports teams at all levels.
