Target Decision Ends with Dozens of People Being Laid Off
This not anything that anyone ever wants to hear - that you have been laid off from your job. Generally when this is the case, you haven't done anything wrong. Being laid off is not the same thing as being fired. Even being "let go" isn't necessarily the same as being fired. Being fired is generally at some kind of avoidable fault of your own, and you have lost your job because of that action.

This is not the case in this situation.
Target ended it's contract with Major Metro, which resulted in that company having to lay-off about 75 its employees. Major Metro is a cleaning/janitorial service that was contracted through Target to clean their stores.
From KSTP:
So now, what will happen with the cleaning service within those Target stores? The assumption is that Target will hire another janitorial service. But, does that mean that the employees that were formerly working with Major Metro Janitorial services will be contracted through the new cleaning service once one has been chosen? That part is unclear, but not out of the question as of now.
The end of this contract will be on June 1, 2024, and that is when those employees will officially be unemployed unless something with a new contract happens within the next couple of weeks.
If you are curious as to why this contract is ending, that question has not been answered publicly. Just that it is ending.
