My Life

Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan was my guest this week on WJON's My Life series. Learn about his early beginnings in Baltimore, Maryland where he cultivated his love of baseball and the Orioles. Jim also grew up loving the Baltimore Colts. The Colts were big in Baltimore at that time.

This version of WJON's My Life series features long-time radio sports director and radio sales associate John Schroeder. Schroeder grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Minneapolis Edison High School. John is the youngest of 6 children. He loved sports as a youngster especially football, basketball and baseball.

St. John's Head Football Coach Gary Fasching joined me this week for our "My Life" series on WJON. Gary talked about his early life growing up with 14 siblings on a dairy farm in Winsted, Minnesota and his time participating in sports at Winsted Holy Trinity High School. Gary moved on to play college football at St. John's but considered a pair of other schools before deciding to be a Johnnie. Listen to find out who.

St. Cloud City Council Member Steve Laraway joined me for WJON's "My Life" series. Laraway grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota, was active in scouts, and played football, basketball and baseball at New Ulm as a kid.

This week in WJON's My Life series I talk with State Representative Tim O'Driscoll from Sartell. O'Driscoll is a long-time Central Minnesota resident having grown up in Sartell. He remembers when Sartell was a much smaller community.

St. Cloud State Economist and Dean, School of Public Affairs, is my life this week for our My Life series. We talk about King's early life in New Hampshire, what profession he almost went into, his love of baseball and music and how he ended up in St. Cloud. We even touch on his stint as a State Representative.

This week in the WJON My Life series I talk with St. Cloud State men's basketball coach Matt Reimer. It all began for Matt in a small town in Northeast Iowa called Elkader. Matt talked to me about how he grew up, when he began to love basketball, his family and his journey to become the head coach of the SCSU men's basketball program.

WJON's Saturday morning feature this week is on Stearns County Attorney and lead singer of Walter's Wheelhouse, Janelle Kendall. Janelle grew up in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota and was very involved lots of extra curricular activities in high school and had a love of music and law early in life.
