Sled Dog Racers To Compete Saturday At Camp Ripley
CAMP RIPLEY -- Dog sled racers from across the state finally have enough snow to compete in the annual Winter Warrior Sled Dog Races at Camp Ripley tomorrow (Saturday).
It's a two-day long competition where mushers race their dogs for a chance to win trophies and medals in their racing class.
A racer's class depends upon the number of dogs on their team and the distance they race. A ten-dog team could race as many as 25 miles.
This is the first time that Camp Ripley has hosted an event of this kind. Events begin at 9:00 a.m. on both days.
It's free and open to the public. All visitors must show a valid driver's License at Camp Ripley's front gate.
The North Star Dog Club is sponsoring the event.
