Spring, summer and early fall are prime times for seasonal environmental allergies in Minnesota. Dr. Ted Truitt from St. Cloud ENT joined me on WJON for a Health Matters program. He says things people tend to be allergic to that affect them this time of year include molds, trees and tree pollen.

COVID-19 numbers are back up at St. Cloud Hospital this month but only slightly. Dr. George Morris from CentraCare joined me on WJON this week. He says they have 12 positive COVID patients within their CentraCare facilities with 2 of those in the St. Cloud Hospital ICU/Critical Care Unit.

The Minnesota walleye fishing opener is Saturday May 14. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON today. He says walleyes are done spawning and are looking to feed.

The Governor's Fishing Opener has been a tradition in Minnesota since 1948. Governor Tim Walz will be fishing Saturday May 14th on Cut Foot Sioux Lake near Lake Winnie. The Leech Lake/Lake Winnibigoshish area is hosting this year's event.

A tornado was confirmed to have touched down in rural Benton County near Gilman earlier this week. Meteorologist Megan Moulford from the National Weather Service joined me on WJON. She says severe weather in Central Minnesota can occur as early as April and continue through August or early September.

St. Cloud police is reporting a theft from vehicle on the 4100 block of 6th street south. Alicia Mages from Tri-County Crimestoppers joined me on WJON. She says an unknown individual entered the vehicle and stole items from inside.

The Granite City Train Show is returning to the Rivers Edge Convention Center in downtown St. Cloud Saturday. The show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dr. Edward Olson is the organizer of the event and he joined me on WJON this week.
