ST. CLOUD -- The Minnesota Senior Games are going on in St. Cloud this weekend, showcasing the talents of senior athletes from around the Upper Midwest.

The games allow athletes over the age of 50 to compete in various sports -- from shuffleboard to track and field.

Athletes like 81-year-old Lloyd Kempf use the opportunity to remain active in competition.

"You just feel better [participating] and it gives you something to look forward to," Kempf says of the Senior Games.

Kempf, whose wife, Audrey, is also competing, has been participating in the games for over 20 years and remains competitive in several events.

"I'm doing the 50, the 100 and the 200 (meter dashes), high jump, pole vault, and the discus," Kempf says.

"It's the first meet of the season [and] it's going alright," Kempf says.

The 2015 Senior Games continues through Sunday at locations all over the St. Cloud area.
