St. Cloud State University is set to invest nearly $5 million in their Mass Communications Department.

The University announced today (Thursday) the money will enhance their journalism, production and strategic communications offerings and expand student learning opportunities.

Officials say they will switch to a high-definition broadcast for their delivery system as early as September. The switch will mean Husky hockey fans will be able to watch games in HD as they join the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference next season.

The University also says they will revise the curriculum to reflect new media practices.
