SAUK RAPIDS -- You don't know what you can do until you try and one 15-year-old girl is learning that exact lesson.

Sauk Rapids native Madelyn Adamski has be working hard this summer raising funds for the Sauk Rapids Fire Department to buy a new rescue boat.

"You don't know how things are going to go unless you ask," says Adamski

Adamski started her fundraising efforts the first of the year and is now is just over $13,000 from her $75,000 goal.

She says it's been amazing to see so many residents and businesses support here efforts.

"Some of the places we went to would right a check right when we left. The Rice Sportsman's Club and the Minnesota Fishing Museum each gave us $10,000 and it was crazy how important they thought this cause was just like us," says Adamski.

The funds raised will go into buying a new all-terrain boat, propelled by a fan. She says the rescue boat isn't just for the fire department but for the entire community.

"It all goes straight back to them. You never know who may be saved one day. This is not a private organization, it all goes back to them," says Adamski.

Adamski has currently raised $61,746 towards her goal. She says there will be a donation area set at the Sauk Rapids Fire Department's stand today (Tuesday) through Sunday at the Benton County Fair.

She hopes to raise the $75,000 by September 10th.
