WATAB TOWNSHIP - Sauk Rapids firefighters battled a barn fire last (Monday) night.

Fire Chief Tony Hommerding says strong winds and cold temperatures made for difficult conditions.

The call came in at about 8:00 p.m. at 621 75th Street Northeast in Watab Township.  A dairy barn with a hayloft half full of hay started on fire.  Crews were able to contain the damage to just the one building.  No livestock were hurt.

The damage estimate is between $30,000 and $50,000.  The cause is listed as undetermined accidental.
