A garage was destroyed in a fire Sunday morning.

One of the two volunteer Sauk Rapids firefighters who lost their position with the city after a controversial Facebook post has reached out to WJON news in an effort to share his side of the story.

Sauk Rapids Police Chief Perry Beise did not share the names of the individuals, or details about the social media comments.

Authorities responded to a house fire in Sauk Rapids. The home is at 3135 Quarry Road Northeast, near Molitor's. The fire started some time between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

A fire damaged a home in Haven Township on Sunday night. Sauk Rapids fire chief Jason Flemming says the call came in just after 5:30 p.m. at a farm at 4760 45th Avenue Southeast. The family was able to escape from the home and nobody was hurt in the incident.

.38 Special will be headlining this year's benefit for the Sauk Rapids Volunteer Fire Department. The show is this Saturday night with the music starting at 5:00 p.m. This is an outside performance at Rollies Rednecks and Longnecks in Sauk Rapids.
