ROCORI Student To Face Second Degree Assault Charges
ST
. CLOUD -- A ROCORI seventh grader is expected to be charged with second degree assault after a gun incident at the Middle School Tuesday.
Stearns County Attorney Janelle Kendall says a petition has been filed alleging that the student should be charged because he pointed a loaded handgun at another student after having been bumped in the hallway. The boy then allegedly returned the gun to his locker and went to class.
Kendall says because the boy is 13-years-old, it will be tried in juvenile court which is closed to the public.
The boy was removed from school and classes were not interrupted.
In 2003, Rocori High School was the scene of a shooting in which two students died. The shooter was sentenced to life in prison.
