ST. CLOUD - Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says they collected over 320 pounds of unused prescription drugs last Saturday.

Their drug take back program was held at three sites. It was organized by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

Meanwhile, if you missed that event, the Sheriff's Office has installed a permanent drop box for unused prescription drugs in the lobby of the Stearns County Law Enforcement Center in downtown St. Cloud.  It's available during normal business hours.

Sheriff  Sanner says it's important to dispose of unused prescription drugs to keep them out of the hands of those that may abuse them.  Other methods of disposal such as flushing or throwing them in the garbage have been proven to contaminate the ground water.
