HAM LAKE, Minn. (AP) - A Minnesota tree trimmer is recovering after falling about 60 feet out of an oak in Ham Lake.

Reports say 23-year-old Eden Hanson of Pierz broke his arm, six ribs and his sternum and lacerated his liver and spleen in the fall this week. Doctors at the Hennepin County Medical Center tell him he likely wouldn't have survived if he hadn't been wearing a helmet.

It's also possible Hanson has a compression fracture in his neck, but doctors tell him he will be able to walk after his recovery.

Hanson was in the tree Tuesday when its top broke under the weight of his rope. He says the tree limbs he had already cut softened his fall.

Hanson says he has two young children and his tree-climbing days are over.
