LAKELAND (AP) — A Minnesota teenager whose song "Clouds" became an Internet sensation has died after battling a rare form of bone cancer.

Zach Sobiech of Lakeland died Monday at his home, according to a CaringBridge post by his mother. He was 18.

His family thanked people who "listened with their hearts" and helped Sobiech "bring his message and his music to the world."

Sobiech began writing songs of farewell to family and friends last fall. His first song, "Clouds," has received almost 3 million YouTube hits.

The catchy tune inspired tributes and covers, including a celebrity video.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Michael in Stillwater.
