A memorial gathering will be held from 12:00 -2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015 at the American Legion Post No. 12, Long Prairie for LeRoy C. Dixon, age 95, of Long Prairie who passed away on Saturday at CentraCare Health Systems-Long Prairie. A military graveside service will be at 11 am Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, Long Prairie. Arrangements entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home – Stein Chapel, Long Prairie.

LeRoy Cecil Dixon was born January 9, 1920 in Round Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Layfayette C. and Clara (Olson) Dixon. The family moved to Long Prairie where LeRoy graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1938. He worked for his father’s surplus store in Long Prairie until entering the United States Navy during World War II. He returned to Long Prairie. He married Janice Faye Alexander. In the 1950’s, LeRoy moved to Minneapolis where he was an insurance underwriter for Crum and Forester Insurance Group, which later became the U.S. Insurance Group. He retired in 1981 and returned to Long Prairie where he and his brother ran the Reichert Hotel and the Dixon Apartments.

LeRoy was a member of the American Legion Post and the V.F.W. Post in Long Prairie.
LeRoy is survived by his sons, Wade Dixon, Long Prairie, and Blake Dixon, Browerville, brother, Joyce M. Dixon, Florida, also 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
