ST. CLOUD - Kids Fighting Hunger volunteers prepared and packaged thousands of meals to send to the Philippines today, a country recently devastated by a typhoon.

Volunteers lined tables to put together and package the meals. The process is like an assembly line, each volunteer has a specific task for preparing the food.

Executive director for Kids Fighting Hunger, Pamela Beard, says the event is a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving early by helping others.

"It's kind of a way to celebrate prior to Thanksgiving for what to be thankful for, because we have so much here," Beard says.

With hundreds of volunteers at work today, Kids Fighting Hunger hopes to prepare and ship 100,000 meals to the Philippines.

Beard also adds that it's a great way for the community to give back.

"It's just a great way for people to come together and do something really great for somebody they've never met," Beard says.

Those interested on donating towards the cause can find information on their website.
