ST. CLOUD (AP) - A Stearns County judge will appoint a receiver to determine how much money has been donated to the family of a slain police officer, and how the money should be divided.

Cold Spring Officer Thomas Decker was killed in November. His widow and his ex-wife are at odds over how to divide the money.

Judge John Scherer told both sides Monday a receiver will determine how much money is available in at least four accounts set up after Decker's death. He says one way to decide how to divide that money could be to focus on the reason each account was set up.

The widow seeks half the money, with the other half divided equally between the officer's four children. The ex-wife says the widow and four children should each get 20 percent.
