As a balding, middle-aged man, I have to admit that this news doesn't do a whole lot for me. However, because I am a man of the people I am going to share this news with you.

When it comes to getting a haircut, Minnesotans receive some of the biggest bargains in the country- specifically women- according to a new study from WalletHub. That's key, as the cost of a haircut has risen by nearly 78% in the last two decades.

HOW MUCH DO MEN AND WOMEN SPEND ON HAIRCUTS IN MN

“In the most expensive states, it can cost around 1.6% of the median household income for a man and a woman to each get a trim," said WalletHub's Chip Lupo. "While that might not seem like an overly high percentage, it’s still a lot when you consider how many other inflated expenses people need to cram into their monthly budgets.”

The financial website set out to determine which Americans spend the biggest percentage of their annual income on hair grooming, using the combined average price of a men's barbershop cut and a women's shampoo/trim/blow dry in each state.

At the top of the list for highest percentage spent is Arkansas, who average $82.66 per year on haircut services. This is in large part due to the high cost of a men's haircut in the state, ranking as the ninth-most.

Minnesota finished as the third cheapest state for a cut, with residents spending just 0.98% of their monthly income on the services, which is about $73. Minnesotans enjoy the 28th cheapest men's barbershop haircut and the fifth-cheapest women's shampoo, trim and blow dry.

Minnesota trailed only New Jersey (0.97%) and Virginia (0.89%) as the lowest in the country.

Sparky Seal

In 2022, Como Park Zoo celebrated the Summer of Sparky with twenty-one custom Sea Lion statues, hand-painted by local artists, placed throughout the Twin Cities, featuring water conservation messaging and weekly events. Now the statues can be seen throughout Como Park Zoo year-round. Check out pictures of some of the Sparkys below.
