MORRISON COUNTY -- Telephone scams continue to affect central Minnesota this tax season.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office has seen a number of scams being reported involving a caller posing as an IRS employee demanding immediate payment of tax debts.

Sheriff Shawn Larsen says the calls are going to residents and businesses, sometimes with a caller ID that says "IRS Washington".

You are reminded that the IRS never handles business this way and you should not give personal and financial information out over the phone.

If you suspect the call is a scam, hang up and call the Treasury Inspector General at 1-800-366-4484.
