OMAHA - It was an offensive shootout at the Century Link Center on Saturday night as the St. Cloud State Huskies fell to the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks 8-6.

The Mavericks took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Justin Parizeek and Brock Montpetit to lead off the scoring.

The Huskies would then score three unanswered goals to finish the first period. Kalle Kossila scored twice and Jimmy Murray added another for a 3-2 SCSU lead.

Both teams continued to battle back and forth in the second period. The Mavericks would re-take the lead with goals from Nick Seeler and Dominic Zombo to make it 4-3.

David Morley tied the game again for SCSU with his seventh goal of the season, making it 4-4.

Omaha would take a 5-4 lead with Zombo's second goal of the game. Kossila would pick up the hat trick with an unassisted goal to tie the game 5-5 at the end of the second period.

The Mavericks would take control of the game in the third, Zombo also picked up a hat trick for Omaha with his third goal at 10:03 in the third period. Zahn Raubenheimer and Brock Mantpetit also scored to make it 8-5.

The Huskies would get one more goal from Cory Thorson, making it 8-6.

St. Cloud State now falls to 14-6-4 overall and 8-4-2 in the NCHC. Nebraska Omaha improves to 10-12-2 overall with the victory.

The Huskies return home next weekend for a pair of games against Denver at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
