CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities say a 15-year-old Mankato girl was seriously injured when she was struck by a boat on East Jefferson Lake in southern Minnesota.

The Le Sueur County sheriff's office says the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The sheriff's office says Marah Elizabeth Bengston, of Mankato, was wakeboarding behind her father's boat when she lost her balance and fell into the water. It says she was floating in the water when she was struck by a second watercraft operated by a 20-year-old St. Peter man who was not part of her group.

The sheriff's office says Bengtson was flown to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with serious leg and arm injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
