ST. PAUL (AP) — Democratic Sen. Al Franken had a nearly 3-to-1 cash advantage over Republican challenger Mike McFadden as their Minnesota race reached its final month.

Franken's campaign said Tuesday its latest report to regulators would show $2.75 million in the bank as of Oct. 1. That's compared with about around $1 million for McFadden.

Franken's team says he raised more than $4 million from July to September. McFadden's campaign says he raised more than $2 million in the three-month period, his largest haul during a fundraising quarter.

The two candidates have spent millions on ads vying for Minnesota's Senate seat, but outside Republican groups have not keyed on the race as a target to regain control of the chamber.

Full fundraising reports for the last three months were not yet available Tuesday.
