You Don’t Have to Be Perfect to Make a Difference as a Foster Parent
Every day, there are children in our community who need a safe place to land because their families are dealing with difficulties. Not someday. Right now.
There is an urgent need for foster homes across our area. Placements tend to happen quickly and unexpectedly, but the truth is — you don’t have to be perfect to make a difference. You also don't need prior experience with children who have faced mental health challenges, substances abuse, or domestic violence in the home.
In fact, you might be surprised to learn how welcoming the journey to becoming a foster care provider can be! Beyond being at least 21 years old, the requirements are flexible regarding your lifestyle and living situation. Whether you live in a cozy apartment or single-family home, work full-time or are enjoying retirement, foster parents are as diverse as the children they care for. Some are married; some are single; some are grandparents; some are parents with young children. The most important thing is that you want to give a child a stable and secure environment.
