Former Chiropractor Sentenced for Rape

 ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A former Little Canada chiropractor who admitted raping a client has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Paul D. Thompson was sentenced Monday by Ramsey County District Judge Leonardo Castro. Reports say that Castro gave Thompson the maximum sentence outlined in a plea deal.

The judge read a letter in court from the victim in which she wrote of her shame and disgust. He also read a letter from the woman's sister who said the victim was suicidal and had to be hospitalized twice.

Castro rejected a plea for leniency from Thompson's attorney, who said Thompson had no criminal record and admitted his crime when confronted by police. Prosecutor Kelly Olmstead argued that the 54-year-old Thompson groomed his victim over years of treatment.
