Eleanor I Schaefers, 95, St. Cloud

January 18, 1920 - December 19, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Eleanor I. Schaefers, age 95, who passed away Saturday at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud. Rev. Ralph Zimmerman will officiate and burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Eleanor was born Jan. 18, 1920 in St. Cloud to Richard & Gladys (Duffy) Solfelt. She married Elvin “Dutch” Schaefers on June 21, 1943 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Cloud. They lived in Illinois prior to moving to St. Cloud in 1984. Eleanor was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Eleanor was a talented painter with oil and watercolors, she was a perfectionist in her art work. She was a kind, hardworking and resourceful woman.

Survivors include her son, John (Cathy) of Annandale; sister, Patty (Les) Herzog of Litchfield; and grandchildren, Christine (James) Hamilton of Columbus, OH and Theresa (Ethan) Erickson of Rockford, MN. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dutch; son, Carl; and sister, Marilyn Solfelt.
