ST. CLOUD (AP) -- The Ebola epidemic is delaying the adoption of a disabled Liberian boy for a local couple.

Jason and Jessica Neal, who work as missionaries with Teamwork Africa, are attempting to adopt 8-year-old Emmanuel from Liberia.

Jessica met Emmanuel in May at an orphanage in the city of Lower Johnsonville.

Jessica returned home healthy during the first Ebola outbreak in the country.

The Neals have canceled multiple trips back since then and sought guidance from officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

They say they are taking every precaution for themselves, their children and their community.

Teamwork Africa co-workers tell them they've had two Ebola-related deaths at the orphanage of more than 240 children, but so far Emmanuel remains healthy.
