ST. CLOUD -- With winter hopefully at an end farmers are looking towards spring and an early planting season.

University of Minnesota Extension educator Dan Martens says with the recent mild temperatures some farmers have already started work in the fields.

In central Minnesota field conditions may still be a few weeks away before farmers can begin planting. However that hasn't stopped farmers from getting equipment prepared for when the time arrives.

Martens says farmers are not letting last years wet Spring change the way they prepare for planting season. If field conditions are ready to go farmers will get to work.

Martens says farmers hope to start planting crops around April 15th.
