Finally!  I actually like this time of year when we get to move the clock forward one hour and it's Daylight Saving Time.  And this year, it's happening next weekend.  Before you go to bed on March 7th, move your clock ahead one hour.  Or you will be late for anythng you had to be at a certain time on Sunday morning.  No one wants that.

It's very strange, but that one hour does seem to affect people.  You can feel extra groggy, get brain fog, just feel out of sorts or any number of things because of lack of sleep, or just the time adjustment or a combination of both.  It's only an hour - but it does seem to really make a difference.

TIPS TO PREPARE SO YOU AREN'T AS AFFECTED BY THE TIME CHANGE

According to Tenet Health website, there are things that you can do to prepare to adjust better to the time change coming in one week.

Stick to a Schedule - in other words, don't go to bed an hour earlier or sleep in later than you normally would just trying to adjust to the time change.

Go to Bed Earlier - as in go to bed about 15 minutes earlier each night for a week prior to the time change

Avoid Eating Later at Night Eating late in the evening or close to bedtime can actually disrupt your sleep. So plan to finish your meals and snacks at least 2 to 3 hours before your bedtime. Also, limit caffeine intake to the morning and don’t consume alcohol after early evening.

Sleeping room set - That generally means no screens, cool bedroom, read a book and/or take a hot bath, and avoid exercise before bed. Do that in the morning or in the midday.  That's also a general rule. It's always better to exercise earlier in the day.

REMEMBER TO CHANGE YOUR CLOCK NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT

Adjust or don't - just remember to change your clocks.  Luckily most of our phones just do that automatically.
