Cloquet Woman Gets Nearly 10 Years in Sauna Shooting
CLOQUET (AP) - A northeast Minnesota woman has been sentenced to nearly 10 years in jail for shooting her estranged husband in his sauna.
Marie Majerle of Cloquet pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in the January 2013 shooting of Richard Majerle. She was sentenced Thursday to nine years and nine months in jail.
Prosecutors alleged Marie Majerle's ex-husband, John Bemis, planned the shooting. But he was acquitted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, aiding and abetting attempted first-degree murder and aiding and abetting first-degree assault in February.
Richard Majerle survived the shooting.
