Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Charles G. Slater, age 87, of Sartell who passed away on Saturday, December 20th at his home. Rev. Thomas Knoblach will officiate and burial will be in the Assumption Mausoleum in St. Cloud. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Parish prayers will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Charles was born September 16, 1927 to Charles and Bernice (Johnston) Slater in Sheffield, Warren County, PA. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1945- 1946. After being discharged, Charles married the love of his life, Dolores Henry on June 23, 1956 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Olean, NY. Charles worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Clark Brothers in Olean, NY until relocating to MN in 1973 for work at Turbodyne and BBC in St. Cloud. Charles was a sweet and generous man who never had a bad word to say about anyone, and always fulfilled any request to the best of his ability. Family and friends meant the world to Charles and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charles is survived by his children, Pamela Schultz of Lino Lakes, Catherine Stofflet of Placerville, CA, John (Nancy) Slater of Maple Grove; brother, George Slater; grandchildren, Samantha Slater, Arthur Schultz, Duncan Schultz, Joseph Johnson, Charles Johnson, Justin Slater, Kristen Slater; great-grandchildren, Candace, Abigail and he greatly anticipated the birth of his third great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores; and parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
