ST. CLOUD -- A new partnership between the Mayo Clinic and CentraCare's Coborn Cancer Center will help central Minnesota cancer patients get the best care possible.

The Coborn Cancer Center is the first member of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Care Network. Mayo Medical Director Dr. David Hayes says it will help physicians exchange ideas and expertise.

Some of the mechanisms of the network are e-consults where doctors can get input from Mayo experts electronically, administrative consulting and "Ask Mayo Expert" where doctors can have access to disease management tools, clinical care guidelines and treatment recommendations.

A partnership has existed between the two clinics since the 1970's, but the new collaboration will allow quicker, more efficient access between patients and experts.
