Alexandria, Pierz Get Federal Money For Improved Routes To Schools

ALEXANDRIA/PIERZ - Alexandria and Pierz are getting federal grant money to improve conditions for biking and walking to school.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says they are two of 16 projects around the state that will share $3.8 million from the "Safe Routes To Schools" program.

Pierz is getting nearly $500,000 for new sidewalks.  And Alexandria is getting nearly $270,000 for a sidewalk, street light, and improved crosswalk by Lincoln Elementary.
