After High-Speed Chase, Authorities Looking For Suspect Who Stole SUV
BENTON COUNTY - Authorities are looking for a suspect who ran from a Deputy in a stolen SUV.
On Wednesday at about 7:00 p.m. a Benton County Deputy saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulling a wood chipper that stopped on the side of Highway 10 between Rice and Royalton.
The Deputy passed by and saw that the driver was having vehicle troubles. The Deputy stopped to help and the driver quickly got back into their vehicle and drove back on the highway.
The Deputy pursued the vehicle at high speeds before it lost control and drove into the ditch. The vehicle drove into a farm before stopping and the driver ran on foot into a wooded area.
Authorities set up a perimeter and a K-9 team was called to track the suspect. After a search of the area with help from a State Patrol helicopter, the suspect wasn't found.
Deputies found the vehicle was stolen from Minnetonka and the wood chipper was also stolen from the Department of Natural Resources Sauk Rapids office.
