ST. JOSEPH - The 34th annual Tour of Saints Bike ride kicked off from the College of Saint Benedict on Sunday morning.

Over 1,000 people were expected to take part in the bike ride.

Event Director Michael Doyle says the bike ride isn't a race and has a casual feel to it. The ride will also give bikers a chance to see many scenic areas throughout the Central Minnesota area.

The event had 18, 35 and 50 mile options for bikers of all ages and skill levels. Doyle says that at 31 miles, riders could chose a short course to finish for a 35-mile day or follow the 50-mile course.

Doyle adds that this option gave bikers a low key chance to push themselves near the end if they're feeling strong.

The ride went through the Lake Wobegon Trail and had stops all around Central Minnesota in places like Avon and Coldspring.
