Fire Leaves Melrose Turkey Barn A Total Loss

MELROSE - The Melrose Fire Department was called to a turkey barn fire early yesterday (Wednesday) morning when a passerby noticed a burning structure.

The Sauk Center Police assisted the fire department in locating the barn. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the barn is a total loss.

There were 17,000 turkey poults in the barn during the blaze. The owner estimates a loss of about half-a-million dollars.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
