ST. CLOUD -- A 13-year-old boy was arrested in Chicago in connection to a St. Cloud shooting Monday night.

Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says the suspect was caught at a bus depot, by Chicago Police. He was in possession of the gun believed to have been used in the shooting.

At about 11:30 p.m. Monday, officers were called to a report of a gunshot, and when they arrived witnesses say several people were seen running from the area, including a male that was limping. Police checked the area but couldn’t find a victim or a suspect.

About a half hour later offers responded to a home in the 1000 block of 10 1/2 Avenue South to a report of a boy with a gunshot wound.

Police say the 15-year-old was visiting from Moorhead and had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower leg. The suspect had also been visiting St. Cloud over the summer.

He is being held in a Chicago Juvenile Detention Center pending extradition. He faces charges of 2nd degree assault with a deadly weapon and reckless discharge.

The investigation remains active.
