MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Police believe the driver who rear-ended a pedal pub in Minneapolis was drunk.

Authorities say 12 people were taken to a hospital after a car hit the pedal pub in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday night. Four remained hospitalized Thursday and were in satisfactory condition, according to reports.

Minneapolis police spokesman Scott Seroka says the pedal pub - a roving bar on wheels - tipped over in the crash and trapped some of the riders. Passersby helped free them.

Pedal pubs are slow-moving party vehicles that are steered by an official driver while riders pedal.

The 35-year-old driver of the car was is in custody Thursday on suspicion of drunken driving and criminal vehicular operation causing injury. Police say he was not injured.
