With the Labor Day holiday fast approaching, area Sheriff's Departments are stepping up their DWI enforcement.

Extra patrols will be out August 21st through September 7th. The extra DWI enforcement is part of a statewide effort with over 300 law enforcement agencies in the state.

Labor Day is the second deadliest major holiday after the 4th of July, with 24 fatalities over the last five years.

Since 2010, there have been over 479 drunk driving related deaths in Minnesota.

You're reminded to always plan for a sober ride and to report drunk driving if you see impaired behavior on the road.
