WAITE PARK -- Waite Park has chosen their new Planning and Community Development director.

Jonathon Noerenberg has been offered the position during a special meeting this (Thursday) afternoon.

Noerenberg is the current Planning Assistant for the city of Mankato and has experience in land use and zoning regulations.

Mayor Rick Miller says his background and knowledge of the area is what separated him from the other finalists.

Therese Haffer and Andrew Mack were the other two finalists for the position. All three finalist were interviewed earlier today.

Miller says it was a tough decision but felt the council made the right choice.

Sauk Rapids, Sartell, and St. Cloud currently have a planning and community development director on their staff.

The city hopes he can begin the job by mid-March.

Noerenberg will fill the hole left by former building inspector Bill Barber who retired in October.
